This Privacy Policy explains how Better Half handles information when you use the Better Half website and iOS app. Better Half is operated by 2803022 Ontario Ltd.
Information the app stores on your device
The Better Half app may let you save information such as:
- Important dates, such as anniversaries, birthdays, and other meaningful moments.
- Unofficial relationship Rules you create, including their notes and priority.
- Vault items, such as favorite flowers, gift ideas, coffee orders, preferences, sizes, and notes.
- App progress, including relationship momentum, XP, achievements, completed thoughtful actions, and local history.
- Private check-in reflections, such as appreciation, what you would like more of, and a shared intention.
This information is intended to remain locally on your device. Better Half does not currently provide user accounts, cloud sync, or a server database for your relationship details.
Information sent to Better Half servers
The app may connect to api.betterhalf.cloud to download static app content, such as jokes, opportunities, compliment prompts, purchase-risk examples, Trouble & Recovery incidents, and recovery-plan content.
When the app requests public content, our hosting and network providers necessarily process technical information such as IP address, request path, date/time, user agent, and delivery diagnostics. Better Half disables routine access logging at the content API origin. Limited infrastructure security or delivery records may still be retained for up to 30 days and are used only to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service. We do not use them for advertising, behavioral analytics, or cross-service tracking.
Service providers
We use infrastructure and email providers to host the website and content API and to receive support messages. They may process the limited technical or contact information needed to provide those services on our behalf. We require service providers handling Better Half information to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable law, and we do not permit them to use it for their own advertising.
Support email
If you email Better Half Support, we will receive the information you choose to include in your message, your email address, and related email metadata. Please do not send sensitive relationship details unless they are needed for support. Support correspondence is retained only as long as needed to resolve the request and maintain reasonable business records, normally no longer than 24 months, unless a longer period is required by law or an active dispute.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use third-party advertising SDKs in the app.
- We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We do not require a Better Half account.
- We do not intentionally collect your Rules, Vault items, important dates, or relationship notes on our servers.
Notifications
If you enable notifications, the app may use local notifications for reminders such as important dates or Vault memory reminders. Notification settings can be managed in iOS Settings.
Payments and App Store purchases
If Better Half is sold through the Apple App Store, Apple handles the purchase transaction. We do not receive your full payment card details from Apple.
Data deletion
You can delete local app data from within the app where available, or by deleting the app from your device. Deleting the app removes local app data stored by Better Half on that device, subject to normal iOS behavior and any backups you control.
Apple-controlled device or iCloud backups may contain app data according to your device and Apple account settings. Better Half cannot access or delete those backups for you; you can manage them through Apple settings.
To request deletion of a support message or other information held by Better Half, email Better Half Support with the subject “Better Half Privacy Request.” We will verify and complete valid requests within the period required by applicable law, subject to records we must retain for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution purposes. Because the app has no account and relationship details stay in its local container, Better Half cannot remotely retrieve or delete those on-device details.
Your choices and consent
You may use the core app without an account and without granting notification or Calendar access. You can withdraw those permissions at any time in iOS Settings. You can stop content API requests by using the app offline, and you can delete or export local app data from the Privacy section in the app.
Children
Better Half is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Security
We use HTTPS for Better Half web and API services. No system is perfect, but we aim to keep the app architecture simple and avoid collecting sensitive relationship details on our servers.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app changes. If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
